Tools > CAD > Curve to Section
We support fitting of curves to sections (2D point clouds created in the Cross Section window). When combined with manual curve editing, this is a handy tool for quickly and precisely creating floor plans.
To start fitting, select a curve and a section and hit the corresponding icon on the Toolbar. This will also launch the Tool window to let the user set the Fitting distance parameter:
Adjust this parameter according to the distance of the curve to the section, and then re-apply fitting. While small values may leave the curve unchanged, large values could lead to fitting the curve to unrelated regions.
The user can combine fitting and manual editing operations until desired results are achieved.
|TIP: For using this functionality, the curve and the section must have the default transformation. If you previously changed their transformation values, apply Freeze Transform prior to fitting.|
In some situations, it might be useful to fix the position of curve components. The user may want to manually define the location of a vertex or prevent some curve components from moving to unrelated regions. For this, we offer to lock curve components.
You can lock polyline vertices and edges, as well as arc mid- and endpoints by clicking the middle mouse button on them. Locked curve elements are highlighted in orange. You can manually edit locked curve elements as described in the Curve Editing section. However, the fitting will not change the positions of locked curve components.
|TIP: One exception is locked polyline edges. The length of a locked edge may change during the fitting, but not its direction.|
