Orbit Mode

This is the default navigation mode in NUBIGON. Select on the Actionbar to activate this navigation mode.

Mouse Movement

  • Rotate: Click and drag the left mouse button to rotate around the orbit center.
  • Zoom: Scroll the middle mouse button to zoom in and out from the orbit center. As soon as the camera position has reached the orbit center, the orbit center is moved as you zoom in further.
  • Pan: Click and drag the right mouse button to move parallel to the view plane.

Set Orbit Center

Several camera tools change the location of the orbit center. We have listed them below:

  • Focus (and predefined view): Sets the orbit center to the center of the selected object(s).
  • Reset: Sets the orbit center to the origin of the coordinate system.
  • Align: Sets the orbit center to the center of a user-defined triangle.
  • Jump: Allows the user to manually select the orbit center.

When using the last two actions, the orbit center will be shown as a small red cross along with a lock icon. Click this icon to disable panning and prevent zooming in beyond the orbit center.

Fly Mode

Select on the Actionbar to activate this navigation mode.

Mouse Movement

  • Rotate: Click and drag the left mouse button to rotate your view (just like turning your head).
  • Zoom: Scroll the middle mouse button to zoom in and out without changing the viewing angle.
  • Pan: Click and drag the right mouse button to move parallel to the view plane.

Keyboard Movement

Use the WASD keys on your keyboard to move freely around the scene.

  • W to move forward
  • S to move backward
  • A to strafe left
  • D to strafe right
  • Q to descend
  • E to ascend

Use the slider next to the Fly Mode icon to change keyboard movement speed.

Combine mouse and keyboard movements for smooth navigation.

TIP: In the orthographic view, keyboard keys are disabled.

Gamepad Controller

In the Fly mode, you can use gamepad controllers (e.g., Xbox One controller) to rotate and move around in your scene. Simply plug a controller and click the gamepad icon on the Actionbar.

  • Left stick to move around
  • Right stick to rotate the camera
  • Left Trigger (LT) to descend
  • Right Trigger (RT) to ascend
